Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon reacted after scoring an own goal during a match in the round of 16 of the Euro 2020 football championship between Croatia and Spain at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Monday (June 28th)

Spain scored a strange own goal in the first half against Croatia in the round of 16 of the European Championship after a massive blunder by goalkeeper Unai Simon.

Simon failed to control a return pass in the 20th minute and the ball slowly hit the net.

Spain dominated the game until then, but the goal gave Croatia a 1-0 lead.

This was the ninth own goal so far at Euro 2020.

Later Monday, World Cup champions France will play Switzerland for the quarterfinals of the European Championship.

The French team lost in the final of Euro 2016 before winning the World Cup three years ago. They finished first in their Euro 2020 group, but won only one match.

The match against the Swiss will be played in Bucharest.
