WandaVision episode 9 brought two scenes after credits in the series finale, doubling the number we had during the entire Marvel TV show after we got one each on WandaVision episode 7 and WandaVision episode 8. Both scenes during WandaVision episode 9 credits were set until the upcoming films in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While one of them is more direct in its relationship, the other is its polar opposite. The only way to know it’s creating an MCU movie is if you’ve followed the Marvel news (or read my summary of WandaVision episode 9). Otherwise they may make you believe we are getting WandaVision season 2.
Spoilers for WandaVision episode 9 “The Finale of the Series” are coming up.
WandaVision episode 9 scene in the middle of the credits
The first scene during WandaVision credits from episode 9 appear after we receive the title card. It continues where we left off in downtown Westview, with FBI agent Jimmy Wu (Randall Park) coordinating the investigation now that Wanda Maximov (Elizabeth Olsen) has left New Jersey for good. He turns to be greeted by Monica Rambo (Teiona Paris), suggesting that it is only a short time after the end of WandaVision episode 9when Wanda flew away when the police entered.
Wo wonders where Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) is, and Monica says she thinks the “debriefs are for the weak.” Monica then notes that they can thank Darcy for the arrest of SWORD director (acting) Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg), who, if you remember, was slowly going crazy – from watching Wanda, then resurrecting Vision as a weapon and eventually shooting Wanda’s children in the finale of the WandaVision series. Darcy had hacked into Hayward’s servers earlier in the season, so the evidence gathered by her apparently helped him to be removed.
That’s when a female FBI agent (Lori Livingston) appears and tells Monica that she is wanted in the theater. But there doesn’t seem to be anyone actually waiting for her in the theater. “I was sent by an old friend of your mother’s,” says the woman from the FBI agent, as she reveals that she is a member of the alien race Scroll, which moves forms – we met them for the first time Captain Marvel. Is she talking about Talos (Ben Mendelssohn)? I think so. The agent then added that “he” would like to meet Monica, and when she asked him where, he indicated to offer outer space.
This is naturally tuned for Captain Marvel 2. It’s Paris officially part of the cast, along with Bree Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, and Iman Velani as Kamala Khan / Mrs. Marvel which will get its own Disney + series later in 2021. The middle scene of WandaVision episode 9 suggests that Mendelssohn may also be part of Captain Marvel 2. We’ll have to wait until November 2022 – then Captain Marvel 2 comes out – to find out where this leads.
WandaVision episode 9 scene after credits
The second scene after WandaVision credits episode 9 is at the end of the credits, after Dolby Vision and the Panavision logo. We open up in a mountain range somewhere, far from any kind of civilization. Enter a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere, with Wanda Maximov (Elizabeth Olsen) dressed in plain clothes and sitting on the porch.
She turns and heads to refill her glass from the whistling jug, but the camera moves past her and heads for another room. There they meet us with Scarlet witch (Olsen) floating in the air and watching through Darkhold – this is the book that Agatha mentioned during WandaVision episode 9. What’s going on? Has she learned how to clone herself / her mind?
But that’s not all. The Scarlet Witch is then interrupted by the screams of her twins, Tommy and Billy, begging for help. Wait, are they still around? How does this work? The answer will probably come in Dr. Strange in the multiverse of madnessof which Olsen is officially part of the. This may seem ripe for WandaVision season 2, but Marvel has already revealed that WandaVision will create Dr. Strange sequel – and that there are no plans for season 2.
