Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag posted a hilarious social media meme from the popular web series Mirzapur to express his horror at India’s loss to New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) in Southampton on June 23rd.
The meme shows Mirzapur’s lead actor, Pankaj Tripati – who plays the character Ahandanand and Tripati, also known as Kalin Baya – scolding Anjum Sharma, who portrays Sharad Shukla, one of the series’ antagonists.
Sehwag, India’s only double-triple centurion in the Tests, notes the meme: “Aapse better umeed kiye the hum (I had better expectations of you).” The meme has since had over 52,000 likes.
Sehwag also greeted Kane Williamsonboys who ended two decades of landfall at the ICC Trophy in New Zealand posted a photo of the kiwi skipper Ross Taylor and writing: “You forgot to be champions over 50 years before the same country, but you won the inaugural World Style Test Championship, many congratulations @BLACKCAPS, absolutely worthy champions. Congratulations to Kane Williamson and @RossLTaylor #INDvNZ.”
It was here in England that New Zealand suffered its biggest disappointment nearly two years ago when it drew with the hosts in the 2019 World Cup final at Lord’s, but lost the trophy at the border.
