Five Kolkata Knight Riders players have begun preparations for the upcoming 14th season of the Indian Premier League at the franchise camp at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Players include Varun Chakravarti, Rahul Tripati, Kamles Nagarkotti, Sandip Warrior and Vaibhav Arora.
All five players have completed their mandatory seven-day quarantine period and are starting to train. The players took part in a light warm-up session on Saturday, including wadding, bowling and flying under the watchful eyes of assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Several KKR players serve their quarantine period according to the rules and regulations issued by the BCCI.
The season will be crucial for Varun, who has managed to impress Indian selectors after his IPL Excursion in 2020 in the UAE. He was selected for the T20I series against Australia and England, but missed both opportunities due to a shoulder injury and reported below fitness levels accordingly.
KKR will launch its campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11 in Chennai. Their IPL 2021 matches will be played in Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.
Nayar is confident that KKR will deliver a much improved season after finishing fifth with seven wins and as many defeats in 14 league games.
“I like Nitish Rana, Shubman Gil and Prashid Krishna have done it again and again in the past, “Nayar told kkr.in. Prasid, especially who is now doing it in the international arena. I feel it was very important for him to come on a big stage like this a lot of confidence. “
