Tokyo Olympic Games Two other athletes tested positive for COVID-19

Two athletes were among four residents of the Olympic Village who were added to Thursday’s calculations of people accredited to the Tokyo Games who tested positive for COVID-19 this month, leading to 91.

Skateboarder Candy Jacobs of the Netherlands and table tennis player Pavel Sirucek of the Czech Republic were positive and had to leave the village to enter a quarantine hotel in cases announced Wednesday.

Two additional “Game-Related Staff” – a category that includes coaches and team members – residing in the village overlooking Tokyo Bay, were included in a total of 91 cases listed by organizers as of July 1st.

This number does not include athletes who tested positive at home before their planned trip to Tokyo for events they will now miss.
