Legendary Indian sprinter Milkha Singh tested positive for COVID-19 and is in isolation at his residence in Chandigarh.
The 91-year-old, known as Flying Sikh, is asymptomatic and claims to be in high spirits.
“Several of our assistants were positive and so all the family members did the tests. Only I came back positive on Wednesday and I’m surprised,” Milha told PTI.
“I’m fine and I don’t have a fever or a cough. My doctor told me I would be right in three or four days. I was jogging yesterday. I’m in the mood,” he added.
The legendary athlete is a five-time gold medalist at the Asian Games, but his biggest performance was in fourth place in the 400-meter final at the 1960 Olympics.
Milha Jeev’s son and golfer Milkha Singh is in Dubai and said he would return to the country this week.
“I will fly back home on Saturday,” Dzheev said.
