Indian pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnu Vardhan Good made a strong start to get down to England’s Ben Lane and Sean Wendy in the men’s doubles finals at the Orleans Masters Badminton Tournament here on Sunday.
The unknown Indians, the only ones left in dispute in the country on the last day, lost 21-19, 14-21, 19-21 in a 56-minute battle with the fourth seed.
Krishna and Vishnu had paired for the first time in this event and would be pleased with the results they achieved. 21-year-old Krishna is the number of India. 1 ranked doubles player and used doubles with Satviksayray Rankiredi in his teens.
After Satvik and Chirag Sheti were paired, Krishna started playing with Dhruv Kapila in November 2016. The duo lasted two and a half years before splitting in 2019.
The 20-year-old Vishnu also played with several other Indian doubles players in his teens. He and Ishaan Bhatnagar had reached the finals of the Bulgarian Junior International Championship 2019.
Satviksayray Rankiredi and Chirag Shetty were the first Indian couple to win the Super 100 event in Hyderabad in 2018. The duo also won the Thailand Open 500 and reached the finals of the French Open 750 event.
Krishna had previously paired with Shlok Ramchandran, while for 20-year-old Vishnu this is his first international senior tournament.
On Saturday, Saina Neval bowed in consecutive matches in the women’s singles semifinals to end India’s singles challenge in the tournament. Saina lost 17-21, 17-21 to Dane Lines Christoffersen in her semi-final clash.
