India held its first group training session on the ground next to the Ageas Bowl here on Thursday, five days after receiving authorized step-by-step training on the eve of the World Cup final against New Zealand.
The WTC final is scheduled for June 18-22. It was the first time players had mingled with their teammates on the ground, after they were allowed to escape to high school and the main playing field at various time slots after completing the third day of their heavy quarantine in the UK.
“We had our first group workout and the intensity was high. The # TeamIndia fires are in full swing for the # WTC21 final,” BCCI wrote in a Twitter post, along with a short video of the workout.
Players had a full net session where he likes a skipper Virat Kohli,, Rohit Sharma,, Cheteshwar PujaraRishabh Pant had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch – his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today.
The nets were followed by a field session under the guidance of flight coach R Sridhar, which focused mainly on the catch in the cordon.
Earlier, players were allowed to leave the rooms of the Hilton Hotel, owned by the Hampshire Bowl, on the third day, after which they began their individual training.
Players also received basic equipment in their rooms for the purpose of the exercises.
