Rashid Khan gets better than Andre Russell in qualifying 2 of IPL 2018 is still chasing the Kolkata Knight Riders star wagon, which has not been able to make the playoffs since.
KKR narrowly missed one IPL final port after being knocked out by Sunrisers Hyderabad three years ago at 14 tracks in Eden Gardens.
“I didn’t get away with Dre Russ,” Russell said in a chat with kkr.in.
Chasing 175, KKR were well set on 93/2 halfway through before SRH bounced back, firing Chris Lynn and Dinesh Kartik in quick succession.
Russell came in when KKR needed 57 33-ball runs, but his stay lasted only seven balls, while he escaped only three runs, deceived by a stupid Afghan cunning spinner.
“I started to rethink the game. It was actually a ball I could have picked up and that’s when I realized I was wrong. If I was still beating from behind, we would have won comfortably.”
He was so disappointed that Russell went straight to the shower in his cricket clothes.
“I went back inside and took a shower with my cricket clothes,” Russell revealed.
“My shoes and everything was wet. I was just there while the water was flowing everywhere because (loss meant) it was basically the last game (for the season).”
“I was just disappointed in myself. That’s why I took a shower with everything wet. I was happy that no one saw me that way because it was embarrassing. People would be like, ‘Are you losing him?’ “
“I realized (from that incident) that if a bowler senses that you’re afraid to pick up your bat, they’ll be all over you. You have to give up bowling, sometimes playing shots,” he concluded.
