On Tuesday, the Delhi police crime department took two-time Olympian Sushil Kumar to Chatrasal Stadium and his apartment in the national capital to further investigate the death of fighter Sagar Dankar, also known as Sagar Rana.
The criminal branches first took the fighter to Chatrasal Stadium here and interrogated him. Police tracks asked Kumar about the chain of events on May 4, when a fight took place in which Dankar was seriously injured.
Dankar later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Police also took Kumar to the parking lot where the fight took place.
A team of detectives later joined Delhi police and collected material from the scene.
The team of the criminal branch arrived at Kumar’s apartment and interrogated him again.
Kumar was arrested Sunday morning along with his aide, Ajay Kumar, on the run for more than 18 days in several states following the death of fighter Dankar following a May 4 brawl at Chatrasal Stadium here.
According to Delhi police, Kumar traveled to Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Utarakhand and Haryana during an 18-day game of chasing cats and mice.
He was finally arrested in the Mundka area of Delhi on Sunday morning when he came to get some money and also borrowed from a national player. Police in Delhi also announced a reward of Rs 1 nail polish for Kumar and Rs 50,000 for his assistant Ajay.
Kumar was sent to a six-day custody by a court in Delhi.
On May 18, Kumar applied for bail in a Rohini court in New Delhi, but the court rejected it.
On May 4, two groups of fighters clashed at Chhatrasal Stadium, killing 23-year-old Dankar from injuries he sustained during the brawl. A court in Delhi had also issued a remand order (NBW) against Kumar.
Police in Delhi also issued a notice for Kumar, who won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
