India’s latest sensational pace T Natarajan has been released by Tamil Nadu’s team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy ODI race as BCCI wants him to stay fresh for the limited series against England next month, a senior TNCA official said on Thursday.
“BCCI and the management of the Indian team wanted Natarajan to be fresh for the legs with a white ball from the series against England. Given the interests of the Indian team, we said ‘yes,'” said Tamil Nadu (TNCA) RS Ramasaamy secretary.
RS Jaganath Sinivas will replace Natarajan on the 20-member team, which will leave for Indore on 13 February.
Earlier, Natarajan was included in a team of 20 for Tamil Nadu for the tournament, which starts on February 20. Tamil Nadu recently won the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy in Ahmedabad.
The first of the five T20 Internationals against England will be played on March 12 in Ahmedabad, while the first ODI will be held in Pune on March 23.
Tamil coach Nadu S. Vasudevan also confirmed the development and said that Natarajan had been released from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad.
Natarajan was the first Indian cricketer to make his international debut in all three formats during his tour of Australia.
He played in the serial test for Brisbane after making his first appearances in the T20I and ODI earlier on the tour.
