The star wrestler Sushil Kumar’s request to the Delhi government to extend his deputation by one year was rejected and sent back to his parent department – Northern Railway. Kumar, who has been an MP in the Delhi government since 2015, already had an extension for 2020 and was trying to get it for 2021 as well.
“Last week, the Delhi government sent Kumar’s file to the Northern Railways, mentioning that the state government had rejected his request for an extension,” a Northern Railway source told IANS.
“The state government has also implemented the First Information Report (FIR), which links Kumar’s name to the murder of a 23-year-old fighter during a May 4 brawl at Chatrasal Stadium. work with the Northern Railway as well, “the source added.
A senior commercial manager at Northern Railways, Kumar was appointed by the Delhi government as a special services officer (OSD) at Chhatrasal Stadium to develop sports at the school level.
“He had applied for a one-year extension [again] last month, but approval was pending, “said a Delhi civil servant.
The General Manager of Northern Railways, in consultation with other senior officials, including the legal department, will decide on future action next week.
“This is a complicated situation because Kumar is not physically present at his post. Only his file from the Delhi government is with us. It mentions that Kumar is not on board with them. Because he is in police custody in Delhi , we will check the rules on the course of action to be taken, “a Northern Railway official said.
As Kumar is no longer in the Delhi government, his dominance of Chatrasal State State Stadium, which is the center of the struggle in northern India, is over.
Kumar was recently elected president of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) as part of the education department of the Delhi government.
“He may also lose that position and will not be eligible to run for SGFI president in the future because he is not affiliated with the education department,” a source said.
The star wrestler was arrested by Mundka on the outskirts of Delhi by Delhi police for alleged involvement in the murder of former international wrestler Sagar Dankar.
On Saturday, IANS reported that Kumar had been arrested by Jalandhar. Although Delhi police denied this and said he had been arrested on the outskirts of Delhi, they confirmed that they had sent a team to Punjab to catch the fighter.
