Spotify launches 85 new markets in the next few days

Written by admin

Spotify is expanding to 85 new markets over the next few days in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America, co-founder and CEO Daniel Eck announced at his online event Stream On on Monday. This includes major new markets such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria. Taken together, Spotify’s 85 new markets represent more than a billion people – a huge new unused audience for Spotify, which has grown to more than 345 million active users per month and over 155 million paid subscribers worldwide. It’s the largest expansion of Spotify to date – currently available in 93 countries, which took 12 years – and essentially makes it a global service.

In all new 85 markets, Spotify will offer both Spotify Free and Spotify Premium plans. Individual, family, duo and student plans Spotify will be available in certain markets, Spotify said. Listeners in the new markets will have access to Spotify in mobile applications and in the browser. The applications for TV, consoles, speakers, wearables and cars will be launched in the “coming months”. Spotify’s global music catalog will be available in all 85 new markets and will work with local rights holders to add more local offerings.
