Former Indian cricket Sachin Tendulkar has tested positive for COVID-19. Tendulkar confirmed that he was infected with the virus on his official Twitter account.
“I tested myself and took all the recommended precautions to ensure that Covid did not stay away. Today, however, I tested positive after mild symptoms. Everyone else at home tested negative,” Tendulkar wrote in a statement on his official Twitter account.
“I have been quarantined at home and are following all necessary protocols as recommended by my doctors,” the statement said.
“I want to thank all the health professionals who support me and many others across the country. Take care of all of you.”
Widely considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time, Tendulkar represented India from 1989-2013 and currently holds the records for most tracks in the ODI and Test formats of the game.
The only cricketer to have played 200 tests, Tendulkar scored 15,921 tracks in the longest format of the game. In ODI, he represents India in 463 ODI, scoring 18,426 tracks.
