The teen cotton sensation Shafali Verma was raised in class B on BCCI’s list of annual contracts as the cricket board reduced the number of contracted players from 22 to 19.
Class A, which offers annual fees for fixing Rs 50 nail polish, again consists of three players of all formats – Twenty20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, her deputy Smrati mandhana and a foot rest bowler Poonam Yadav.
“Shafali is seen as the biggest superstar we will have in the coming years, so it was no surprise that she was promoted to grade B by C. Punam Raut was awarded for her good show in the series for South Africa and she has it has also been upgraded to grade B, “said a senior BCCI official.
The young Richa Ghosh is included in class C, which makes the players richer with Rs 10 lakh. This year there are six cricketers, five less than last time.
The contracts are for the period from October 2020 to September 2021.
The two notable names dropped from the 19-member list are dough Veda Krishnamurti and spinner for left hand Ekta Bist.
