The Galaxy M42 5G is a rebranded version of the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G, according to a report citing the Google Play Console’s smartphone listings. The report notes that both smartphones have the same device code in the Google Play Console. This comes a day before the launch of the Samsung M series smartphone in India, which will be sold at retail on Amazon. Samsung Galaxy M42 will be available with Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC, water drop display and square rear camera module.
Referring to the list of supported devices from Google Play, a report from 91Mobiles claims both Galaxy M42 5G and Galaxy A42 5G have a device code of “a42xq”. The report also says that the Google Play Console list shows the specifications for the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G and since then, Samsung launches the phone as Galaxy M42 5G, the specifications are similar.
It is assumed that the Samsung Galaxy M42 is also seen in the list of Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG, which shows that the smartphone is a rebranded model Samsung Galaxy A42 5G. Galaxy A42 5G did its thing debut last year.
Launch of Galaxy M42 5G India, availability
The launch of the Galaxy M42 5G in India is scheduled for April 28, and the smartphone will be sold at retail Amazon India website. The list of the e-commerce giant also revealed the design of the smartphone, showing a quadruple rear camera in a square-shaped module. The e-commerce site makes registrations, so if you’re interested in buying a smartphone, you can click the “Notify me” button to get updates for the same. The Samsung smartphone will also likely be available through Samsung’s online store. As for the price, there is no official statement about it, but past leaks I guess the price of the phone may be in India between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 25,000.
Galaxy A42 5G specifications (expected)
Although it is said that the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G is a rebranded version of the Galaxy A42 5G, the phone may have some differences in the specifications department. So far, it has been confirmed that the smartphone will be launched with Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC under the hood. It should run on the Android 11 operating system out of the box and is designed to pack 6GB and 8GB of RAM options. The quadruple camera setting at the back is reports to have a 64-megapixel main sensor. Samsung Galaxy A42 comes with a 48-megapixel primary sensor. The Samsung M series phone can pack a large 6000 mAh battery and will also have Samsung Pay.
