Samsung Galaxy Fold gets camera enhancements, latest security patch: Report

Samsung Galaxy Fold has reportedly received a new update included in the May 2021 security package for Android. It is said that the update will be released first in France and there is no information when it will be released in other regions. The update brings improvements to the phone’s camera, as well as Samsung’s quick sharing feature. Samsung released the Galaxy Fold in India in October 2019, running Android 9 Pie. It was subsequently updated to Android 10 in 2020 and recently to Android 11 One UI 3.0.

The update for Samsung Galaxy Fold was the first reports from SamMobile. Samsung reports that it has improved the camera functions of the foldable smartphone. However, it was not immediately clear whether the update carried Galaxy S21 serial camera functions such as the ability to use the ultra-wide camera in Pro and Pro Video modes. Samsung is also said to have improved the fast sharing feature – used to transfer data between compatible Galaxy devices – with the update.

It is reported that the new update for Samsung Galaxy Fold bears the compilation number F900FXXU5EUD7 and is currently available in France. Other regions should also receive the update soon. You can manually check if your device has received the update by tapping Settings> Software update> Download and install. It is recommended that you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi connection and charge while installing the update.

Samsung starts Galaxy Fold in October 2019. It has two displays – a flat 4.6-inch Super AMOLED display on the front and a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED folding primary display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory. For optics, it has a triple rear camera setting with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and two 12-megapixel sensors. A dual front camera setup with a 10-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor is also available. The cover of the phone has a 10-megapixel selfie shooter. The phone has a battery with a capacity of 4380 mAh with support for wireless charging.
