Sajan Prakash makes history, becomes the first Indian swimmer to make an Olympic slice “A”

Sajan Prakash became the first Indian swimmer of his kind to break Olympic qualifying time on Saturday, reaching 1:56:38 seconds in the men’s 200m butterfly set at the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome, Italy.

The 27-year-old, who represented India at the 2016 Rio Olympics, set the standard for the Tokyo Games “A”, set at 1: 56.48 seconds, by 0.1 seconds.

The Kerala swimmer is constantly improving his performance in the 200 meters butterfly.

Last week, in the Belgrade Trophy swimming competition, he was 1: 56.96 seconds behind to miss the elusive A qualification.
