Roy Hodgson, the oldest manager in the Premier League at 73, left his role at Crystal Palace at the end of the season after four years at the club.

“After more than 45 years as a coach, I decided it was time to step back from the rigors of first-class Premier League football,” Hodgson said on Tuesday.

Hodgson did not reveal what the next step in his career would be, but said he was ready to stop being a “full-time manager.”

The last game of the former England manager in charge of Palace, who is safe from relegation, will be against Liverpool – one of its many old clubs – at Anfield on Sunday.
