Indian women’s ski team ODI Mitali Raj on Sunday, she said the bowlers lacked the proper preparation before entering a five-game series against South Africa.
The visitors chased a 267 goal with seven wickets to gain a relentless 3-1 lead in a five-game streak.
“Even if we scored more than 266, that wouldn’t be enough, the way the South Africans would. Our bowling department has to work on the preparation before the series. We missed that,” Mittali said at the presentation ceremony.
“We are not a bad country, but there are things we can improve,” she added.
Veteran player Julan Goswami missed the match due to entertainment and India is struggling in its absence.
“We missed Julian’s experience, but it was an opportunity for the rest of the bowling to step up and take responsibility. Our spin department is experienced. I expect them to come back stronger,” Mitali said.
South African skipper Laura Volvaard, who set the tone with an open 116-box cassette stand with Liesel Lee, called it a “huge team effort”.
“I’m fresh at work and I used the senior players for advice and help. The plan was to attack with the ball forward as far as we could. We have a world-class attack. One of the top four needs a bat for us. That’s something that we haven’t done it in the past, ”Wolvaardt said.
Mignon du Preez was declared the player of the match for her 55-ball 61, while raising a decisive partnership of 103 runs for the third gate with Lara Goodall (59 did not come out), with whom she shared the prize.
“I share this with Lara Goodall. She deserves it, too.”
“I am one of the experienced players who has been in the squad for a long time and I feel that sometimes I do not always turn my starts.
“Laura and Liesel created the team so that everyone else could play with freedom. It was something we wanted to do for a long time: to contribute in the middle.
“It’s special. Winning a series in India, in these tough conditions and with everything that’s going on in the world, we’ll appreciate this one,” Prize said.
