OnePlus 9 Pro will include a new display technology called Fluid Display 2.0, which will bring a dynamic screen refresh rate of up to 120Hz, the company announced in a forum post. OnePlus’s patented technology integrates a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) backplane panel with an enhanced touch response experience for an enhanced user experience. The OnePlus 9 Pro offers up to six times faster synchronization speeds between the display and the processor to make touch responses faster than previous OnePlus phones, the company said. Some other specifications on the OnePlus 9 Pro’s display also appeared online separately.
In order to offer reduced power consumption, in addition to allowing a higher screen refresh rate, OnePlus 9 Pro uses this LTPO technology on the back board. This dynamically adapts the refresh rate from 120Hz to 1Hz based on the screen content, which is claimed to be the lowest in the smartphone industry.
“The display intelligently and efficiently scales power requirements, leading to a significant reduction in energy consumption at lower refresh rates”, the company said.
LTPO combines traditional low temperature polysilicon (LTPS) and oxide TFTs to help deal with high power consumption problems. OnePlus claims that display technology uses up to 50 percent less power, while allowing a continuous super smooth 120Hz experience.
although OnePlus 8 Pro also offers a screen refresh rate of 120Hz, this latest generation model does not support dynamic refresh rate adjustment and is only able to switch between 120Hz and 60Hz. Rival of OnePlus Samsung too offers a dynamic experience with refresh rate on its Galaxy S21 series, but it also doesn’t support screen refresh rates up to 1Hz.
In addition to the dynamic screen refresh rate, the OnePlus 9 Pro’s display is said to reduce gaming latency by 25-30 milliseconds, using up to six times the synchronization speed between the display and the processor.
OnePlus calls its enhanced Touch Response development Hyper Touch, which will maintain a list of ready-made games, including League of Legends,, Call of Duty Mobile,, PUBG Mobile, and Brawl Stars. It will gradually begin to include other titles in the future, the company said.
Cite results from a screen analysis company DisplayMate, PCMag reports that the OnePlus 9 Pro will have a curved 6.7-inch QHD + (1,440×3,216 pixels) OLED display with 526ppi pixel density. It is also claimed that the display provides up to 1043 nits of peak brightness – from 1009 nits of OnePlus 8 Pro. In terms of color accuracy, the company said the OnePlus 9 Pro’s display was “visually indistinguishable from perfect”, although it’s not entirely clear how it is measured against its competitors. It is believed that the phone also has a mode to reduce blue light and support HDR10 +.
The OnePlus 9 Pro is reportedly coming with a captivating 360 Hz sampling rate. This would help speed up the touch, especially for mobile gamers. The phone is also believed to have received a DisplayMate A + rating for its improved display experience.
The launch of OnePlus 9 Pro is scheduled for March 23. The phone will come with Hasselblad cameras and it is recommended that you have 50W support for fast wireless charging. OnePlus 9 Pro is expected to accompany the regular one OnePlus 9 and even at an affordable price OnePlus 9E/ OnePlus 9R.
