The newly built Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad has been renamed Narendra Modi Stadium. Interior Minister Amit Shah addressed the ceremony on Wednesday, following the renaming of Motera Stadium to Narendra Modi Stadium.
Indian President Ram Nat Kovind officially inaugurated the iconic spot before the start of the third test between India and England. The third test between India and England between them will mark the beginning of a new era, as the pink ball game will be played at the renovated stadium in Ahmedabad. The 1,000,000-seat stadium is the largest cricket venue in the world, surpassing Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Although the stadium’s capacity is limited to 50 percent due to Covid-19 protocols, the 50,000 fans are still expected to light up the stadium, as India will only witness its second home test with a pink ball.
