Universal Sunrisers Hyderabad player Mitchell Marsh has retired from the upcoming 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) referring to bio-bubble fatigue. IPL 2021 will start on April 9 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, Marsh informed the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) and the franchise about his decision. Sunrisers, as the report adds, have even introduced their replacement as a player who was recently part of the England-India T20I series.
Marsh was selected by the champions in 2016 for the INR 2 crore auction in 2020, but missed most of the season due to an injury he suffered while playing. He had an ankle sprain during SRH’s opening IPH 2020 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Jason Holder was appointed his deputy.
In total, Marsh has played only 21 IPL games in the 10 years since his participation. He previously played for Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors and Rising Pune Supergiant.
