Xiaomi made headlines with the launch of the Mi 11 series, introducing three premium smartphones at significantly different price points. The Mi 11 Ultra is a leading flagship that boasts impressive hardware and powerful camera setup. On the other side is the Mi 11X, whose price starts at Rs. 29,990 and makes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 available to a wider audience. The Mi 11X Pro is located between these two models. It has more powerful hardware and a higher resolution main camera than the Mi 11X and its Rs. The 39,990 starting price puts it right up against the OnePlus 9R. I picked up the Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro and here are my first impressions.
The Mi 11X (Review) and Mi 11X Pro they look identical and it will be difficult for people to distinguish them. Both of these smartphones are available in three color options, Cosmic Black, Lunar White and Celestial Silver. I had the latter, which looks a bit flashy thanks to its gradient coverage, compared to the other two. The reflective back panel of my Mi 11X Pro makes it difficult to detect fingerprints.
Xiaomi has focused on build quality, and the Mi 11X Pro looks premium. The front has large 6.67-inch frames that are not too thick. You get Full-HD + resolution and a high refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel is HDR10 + certified and has a stated peak brightness of 1300 nits. There is a small hole for the 20-megapixel selfie camera.
I like the fact that Xiaomi has managed to keep the thickness of the device up to 7.8 mm, which makes the device comfortable to hold and use. The Mi 11X Pro weighs 196 grams and is almost manageable for one-handed use. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back, which should help prevent scratches to some extent.
The frame of the Mi 11X Pro seems to be made of polycarbonate, and the power and volume buttons are on the right. The power button is located toward the center of the frame and has a built-in capacitive fingerprint scanner. The volume buttons are above the power button, but they are still within range. The left side is bare. Xiaomi positions the SIM tray at the bottom, along with the USB Type-C port and speaker. The Mi 11X Pro has an IP53 class for dust and water resistance, and there is a rubber seal around the SIM card tray.
You also get Mi 11X Pro stereo speakers, and there are speaker holes in the upper part of the frame. The phone also supports Dolby Atmos sound enhancement. Xiaomi has a well-integrated IR emitter on top of the speaker grille.
At the back, the huge camera module with three lenses is bound to catch your eye. The main camera is 108-megapixel shooting, which is a significant jump compared to the 48-megapixel camera of the Mi 11X. The other two cameras, the 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and the 5-megapixel telemacro camera, are the same as the Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro. The camera module also has a microphone for better sound quality during shooting. Given the similarities between the two phones, it’s no surprise that the 4520mAh battery capacity and 33W fast charging support are also identical.
The Mi 11X Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor. This is Qualcomm’s best processor for 2021 and was recently seen to power. Mi 11 Ultra,, Vivo X60 Pro +,, OnePlus 9 series and Asus ROG 5 phone. Xiaomi has paired this processor with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and has two storage options; the base version of 128 GB is priced at Rs 39,999 and the version of 256 GB is priced at Rs. 41 999. Storage space cannot be expanded on the Mi 11X Pro, so given the small price difference, I would suggest choosing the 256 GB option.
Xiaomi ships the Mi 11X Pro with MIUI 12.0.1 on Android 11 and my device has an April security fix that is quite recent. The user interface is very easy to use, but the phone comes with a lot of pre-installed bloating software. It also offers more applications during the setup process, which I declined.
Mi 11X Pro has support for 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and six navigation systems, including NavIC. However, it misses NFC.
Xiaomi set the price and positioned the Mi 11X Pro just against it OnePlus 9R (Review). It contains serious hardware while being relatively affordable. So the Mi 11X Pro is the perfect smartphone for those who want the best features without paying top prices? Follow Gadgets360 for a full review.
