Indian Vijayver Sidhu settled for the silver medal behind Estonian Peter Olesk in the men’s 25m fast pistol final at the ISSF World Cup here on Friday.
With 26 hits, both were tied for first place at the end of the final by 40 shots. In the shot, after shooting brilliantly to score four of five goals in the eighth and final series, Vijayver managed only one.
Under no pressure, Olesk received four goals to win the main prize after a consistent display in the finals.
The other Indian scorers in the final, Anish Bhanwala and Gurprit Singh, finished fifth and sixth, while Poland’s Oscar Milivek won bronze with 20.
In Qualifying 2, the experienced Gurpreet was the best-ranked Indian in third place with a total of 581, shooting 290 in the first stage and 291 in the second.
Anish was in fifth place with a total score of 579, and Sidhu also made the cut after winning the sixth and final qualifying slot with a total of 579 in both stages.
Marco Carillo of Peru topped the final qualifier with 582, followed by Peter Olesk of Estonia. Millivec was in fourth place.
