Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting trusts former Australian skipper and star batsman Steve Smith there will be a great year for equipment in delhi this year.
IN IPL At auction in 2021, Smith was raised by the Capitals for 2.2 kroner INR, only 20 GEL more than his base price of 2 kroner. Ponting also revealed Smith’s position, saying that the Australian will appear somewhere in the top three.
“I think the fact that he’s been released from the Rajasthan Royals franchise he’s been in for a long time will make him a little hungry again this year.
“So if he gets a chance with us – I think he’ll be in the top three somewhere – if he gets a chance, I’m sure he’ll have a great year for us.
“I caught up with him (recently), he really, really wants to go out there and perform well. Obviously, the other side of this is that there’s a big auction again next year, so if by chance there’s a really good IPL this year, then I’m sure that price will go up next season, “Ricky Ponting told cricket .com.au.
Ponting also said that Smith’s presence on the team would be great for the DC camp, even if the star batsman did not find a place in Playing XI.
“It’s great to be part of our team. Like I said, even if he doesn’t play, for example, having someone like him with his knowledge of the game and the T20 game would be great for our band. I can’t wait to work with him again, “said Ponting.
