Shikhar davan returned to the top of the Orange Cap table after his unbeaten 69 knockout victory in Delhi Capitals (DC) with seven weekends over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Dhawan anchors the pursuit of a target from 167, which DC manages to get with 14 spare balls, thus helping him to overtake the captain of PBKS KL Rahulwho did not play Sunday’s match.
Rahul was admitted to hospital with acute appendicitis and will need surgery. While PBKS have yet to say how long it will take for their captain to return, this could mean that he will be absent from matches in the near future, which means he may fall further in the race for the Orange Cap.
Mayank Agarwal, who took over as PBKS captain in place of Rahul on Sunday, is now sixth at the table with 260 tracks after his undefeated 99. Rajasthan Royals (RR) Joss Butler, which scored its first T20 tonne on Sunday, climbed to seventh with 254 tracks for the season.
In the Purple Cap rankings, Rashid Khan of SunRisers Hyderabad is fifth with 10 straps after choosing one strap in Sunday’s game against RR. Harshal Patel still holds the purple hat with 17 piggy banks and may increase his number on Monday when the Royal Challengers Bangalore face off the Kolkata Knight Riders.
