Chris Morris forced franchises to start bidding before being bought by Rajasthan Royals for a staggering INR 16.25 CR in IPL Auction 2021 on Thursday in Chennai.
A fantastic T20 player and an asset to any team with its versatile abilities, Morris has become the highest paid cricketer in IPL history. The previous all-time record was held by Yuvraj Singh, who was bought by Delhi the Brave in 2015. The highest bid for a foreigner for all was for Pat Cummins (15.5 kroons INR). Rajasthan will now have Joffra Archer and Chris Morris in Powerplay and Death Overs.
Along with Maurice, Rajasthan’s clothing has also set aside money for the universal Shivam Dube and Mustafizur Rahman |. While Dube was bought at a solid price of INR 4.40, Mustafizur chose its base price (INR 1).
The Royals also went for Chetan Sakariya (Rs 1.20 crore), KC Cariappa (Rs 0.20 crore), Liam Livingstone (Rs 0.75 crore), Kuldip Yadav (Rs 0.20 crore) and Akash Singh (Rs 0, 20 crore).
After finishing at the bottom of last season, the Royals parted ways Steve Smith and Sanju Samson was appointed in his place. Along with Smith, Oshan Thomas, Ankit Rajput, Varun Aaron and Tom Quran were released from the Rajasthan camp.
