Rajasthan Royals were rocked by another blow on Sunday after winner Andrew Thai decided to retire from this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) edition. Ty is reported to have flown back to Australia.
Rajasthan-based equipment has already suffered serious setbacks this year, losing overseas stars such as Ben Stokes and Joffra Archer due to injury and Liam Livingstone due to bio-bubble fatigue.
With Chris Morris and Mustafizur Rahman in the ranks, Tye had not played in any of the same for the Royals this season. Now the royals are left with only four foreign players. They are currently sixth in the points table with two wins from five matches.
In a video released by Royals, RR director of cricket operation Kumar Sangakara can be seen telling players about Tay’s departure.
Tye, the Purple Cap winner of the 2018 IPL, played six games for the Punjab Kings before moving his base to RR. It was bought at its base price of 1 kroner INR. Last year in the UAE, he played only one game for the Royals, where he went to 50 tracks.
“AJ leaves at 4 in the morning, so all of you guys who want to say goodbye to him and thank you, he’s part of the squad. He offered a lot of himself and his thoughts, “Sangakara said.
