The Indian women’s cricket team will play a test in Australia after playing in England next month.
India, playing its first test in seven years on June 16 in England, will play another during the tour in Australia. They will also play ODI and T20I Down Under matches.
India last played a test against Australia in 2006.
“England and Australia are the two teams that are still playing tests and in the future you will see a test that is taken when they visit India or when India travels around both countries,” a BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday.
“The idea was released on the sidelines of the men’s pink ball test and later discussed at the Apex Board meeting (last month).”
The tour in Australia has not yet been announced, but Australian racer Megan Shutt said earlier this month that the series is scheduled for mid-September.
The Indian team met in Mumbai on Wednesday before the UK tour, which included a test in Bristol, followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is.
The team will be quarantined for two weeks before flying to the UK with the men’s team.
