With clouds of uncertainty hovering over the Asian Cup in June over the COVID-19 pandemic, the event could take place in Sri Lanka in late June after India reached the final of the ICC World Cup, scheduled against New Zealand by June 18-22.
And given the busy schedule of the Indian team this season, which includes five test series against England in August, BCCI may send a second-string team to the Asian Cup, the Times of India reported.
“We have no choice. We can’t risk preparing for the series in England. And cricketers can’t be quarantined twice. If the Asian Cup happens, India will have no choice but to send a second-string team.” , top sources confirmed according to a report in the TOI.
