“India’s fast bowling team Umesh Yadav showed up for a fitness test on Sunday, February 21 at Motera. He cleared his fitness test and was added to the team for the last two tests of the current Paytm India-England Test series,” read the statement from BCCI.
Since January 2018, Umesh has played seven tests, taking 38 wickets at 13.82 with two five-pointers. His average is the best for an Indian and the second best after 13.27 by Kyle Jamieson among bowlers who have played at least five home tests during the period.
India is currently 1-1 in the series after a spectacular victory in the series in Chennai last week. The next two teams will face each other in the Pink Ball Test at Mottera Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 24th.
