After months of intense controversy and deliberation, BCCI has finally picked up Mumbai batsman Suryakumar Yadav for Team India T20 before the limited series against England at home. The batsman in Mumbai was set to be selected for the Indian team after an impressive IPL 2020, when he played several decisive blows for the team, including a huge blow in the final against Delhi Capitals.
The 30-year-old right-handed batsman was not the only cricketer to win a first call-up, as universal Rajasthan Royals Rahul Tevatiya and his Mi teammate Ishan Kishan also made the cut.
The selection ended Suryakumar’s long wait for the Indian team and Mumbai captain Ranji shared how he was almost surprised when the news came out about his selection.
“… I actually came from practice, sitting in the room, waiting to go for a shower and this time I got the news, I was very happy. I just sat in one place and thought, there were a lot of butterflies, yes,” Suryakumar told Sports Today .
Further serious note, the 30-year-old cricketer shared what it feels like to finally get so close to the famous blue shirt of the Indian team.
“I am proud to represent my country next month. I think I passed in a flash when everything I started cricket with, how my parents supported me, everything started playing in my mind when I received the news yesterday,” Suryakumar said.
