Huawei Mate X2 folding phone with Kirin 9000 SoC is launched

The Huawei Mate X2 folding smartphone was launched in China as a successor to the Huawei Mate X in February 2019. The Mate X2 uses a completely different folding mechanism than its predecessor and instead of folding outwards with the main screen exposed, it folds inwards like Models on Samsung Galaxy Fold. Huawei Mate X2 is available in four color options and two RAM + storage configurations. The phone comes with a quadruple rear camera setting and a single selfie shooter.

Huawei Mate X2 price, availability

Huawei Mate X2 is priced at CNY 17,999 (approximately Rs. 2.01 lakh) for the 8GB + 256GB variant and CNY 18,999 (approximately Rs. 2.12 lakh) for the 8GB + 512GB variant in China. Available in bright black, ice crystal blue, ice crystal powder and white glaze. Mate X2 is currently ready for reservations VMall and will go on sale on February 25 in the country. The company also announced a bunch of accessories such as a car stand, leather sleeve and protective covers.

From now, Huawei has not shared information about the international availability of the Mate X2.

Huawei Mate X2 specifications

The dual SIM (Nano) Huawei Mate X2 works Android 10 s EMUI 11.0 on the top. Externally, the phone has a 6.45-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1160×2,700 pixels with a refresh rate of 90Hz, a sampling rate of 240Hz and a pixel density of 456ppi. When unfolded, it reveals an 8-inch OLED with a 2,200×2,480 pixel display that has a refresh rate of 90Hz, a sampling rate of 180Hz and a pixel density of 413ppi. The phone is powered by an octa-core Kirin 9000 SoC and Mali-G78 GPU. It comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, which can be expanded via Huawei’s Nano card (up to 256GB).

For photos and videos, the Huawei Mate X2 has a quadruple rear camera setting that includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f / 1.9 lens and support for optical image stabilization (OIS), a 16-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide angle f / 2.2 lens, 12-megapixel telephoto shooter with aperture f / 2.4 and support for OIS and 8-megapixel camera with super zoom with aperture f / 4.4, OIS and 10x optical zoom. The front has a single 16-megapixel sensor with an f / 2.2 lens, but the hole in the hole is in the shape of a pill, giving the impression of dual selfie cameras.

Huawei Mate X2’s connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C charging port. On-board sensors include a gravity sensor, an infrared (IR) sensor, a barometer, a gyroscope, a compass, an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor. The Huawei Mate X2 also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The company has packaged a 4500Ah battery in the phone, which supports 55W fast charging (the charger is included in the box). In terms of size, the phone in the folded state measures 161.8×74.6×14.7 mm, and in the unfolded state it measures 161.8×145.8×8.2 mm and weighs 295 grams.
