The American field hockey team appointed the former coach of the senior men’s teams in India Harendra Singh as the coach of the men’s team before the 2021 Olympic Games.
The American Hockey Federation announced its announcement on its official Twitter account, announcing that the high-performance FIH level 4 coach has been hired after an extensive search process for the world’s number 24 country.
“After an extensive search process, USA Hockey Field is proud to announce the hiring of Harendra (Harry) Singh as the new head coach of the US national men’s team,” he said in a press release.
Harendra, who had an unceremonious outcome after coaching the Indian men’s and women’s adult and junior teams over the years, served as head coach of the Indian men’s team until the 2018 World Hockey Championship in Odisha, where India finished fifth. Regarding his new challenge, the coach said he was excited to work with the best breed of hockey players in the country.
“I am really happy to be part of a professional setting. I am happy to contribute to the growth of USMNT by providing ‘Best of Breed’ to our players,” Harendra said in a statement.
