The Delhi-based I-League, FC Sudeva captain Shubo Paul, has been selected to the “Under-19 World” team of the famous German club FC Bayern.

The 17-year-old Paul will attend a training program in which special focus will be placed on team building and cultural exchange in addition to sports aspects, FC Sudeva said in a statement.

“The FC Bayern world team will have a training camp in Munich for all selected talents. There the young players will have the chance to meet FC Bayern and compete in a match with FC Bayern U-19,” the statement said.

Led by club legend and World Cup winner Klaus Augenthaler and their international coach, Christopher Loch, Bayern FC has launched a talent search to select 15 players from around the world to form a “world team”.

The Bayern U-19 team will play against other youth teams in the Bundesliga and will also train there for about two weeks.

Paul, who is also part of the Indian U-17 team, was raised by Sudeva as a 12-year-old player. He was selected by Sudeva’s scout team during the 2017 youth trial.

“Since May 2017, Shubo has received facilities for boarding, accommodation, training and education. As part of our commitment to achieving a balance between sports and academia, we also provide regular training for the child,” the club said.

Shubo is a young and dynamic striker who started in the U-13 I-League team of Sudeva, and today is part of the I-League team of Sudeva Hero.

In the first season of the U-13 I-League, Paul emerged as the leading scorer with 58 goals in 14 games. This attracted the attention of the scouts of the national team and he was invited to join the national camp of India U-15.

He then scored 13 goals in the 2018-19 AIFF U-15 youth league and was part of India’s U-16 tour to Turkey in 2019-20, where he scored three goals in two appearances.
