FC Goa announced its squad for its first campaign in the AFC Champions League on Friday. Striker Igor Angulo and midfielder Alberto Noguera are missing from the team’s 28-man squad, while Australian defender James Donaci is taking the place of a player from an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member state.
All matches of the group stage of the team in the Champions League will be played in Goa. FC Goa face Qatar’s Al-Rayyan in their first match on April 14.
According to the rules, clubs are allowed to have no more than four foreign players on their team, one of whom must belong to an AFC member association. Romeo Fernandez returns to the first team of FC Goa for the first time since 2016 with 11 of the players in the squad coming from the state of Goa.
