Glad to join the runners-up in the latest issue of Delhi Capitals, a star Australian batsman Steve Smith hopes to steer the country towards its first title triumph in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
The 31-year-old man, who was released from Rajasthan Royals, was acquired by Delhi Capitals for 2.2 kroner IPL auctions last week.
“I’m really excited to join the team this year. I think the team has a great set of players and a great coach and I look forward to going there and creating amazing memories and hopefully helping the team become even more “Better than last year. I can’t wait, boys,” Smith said.
The prolific right-wing batsman, who joined the Rajasthan Royals franchise in 2019, was captain of the 2020 edition in the UAE, where he finished last.
Smith scored 2,333 tracks in 95 games, averaging 35.34 in the IPL.
The Batsman had a fantastic season for the now defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2017, when he amassed 472 tracks in 15 games.
At Delhi Capitals, Smith will reunite with his 2011 World Cup captain Ricky Ponting, who is the team’s head coach.
The Capitals boast a strong cotton composition similar to Rishabh Pant, Shikhar davan, Marnus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmeier on the sidelines, and the former Australian skipper may not be a reliable starter in all 14 games.
