Opener Shafali Verma was presented by the 131st Indian ODI hat for women by a captain Mitali Raj. Shafali made his ODI debut against England in Bristol.
She became the first Indian cricketer to take part in the T20I, ODI and tests before the age of 18.
Entering Twitter, the official account of the women’s cricket team in India shared photos of the presentation of the hat. “A proud moment for our thunder @TheShafaliVerma, as it is presented with #TeamIndia Billing cap 131 by Captain @ M_Raj03. Here we hope it has a crushing debut.”
Shafali was fired at 15 in her first ODI inning. She made an aggressive start to the inning, breaking three fours before succumbing to a slower rebound than Catherine Brant in the fifth half of the inning.
Earlier, the women from England won the throw and were selected to qualify for the first One-Day International in a series of three matches.
The match also marks 22 years in ODI cricket for Mithali Raj.
Universal Sofia Dunkley also debuted for women in England.
After the ODI series, both sides will meet in three T20Is. The one-time test between India and England had ended in a draw.
