England have scored eight victories over Sri Lanka to open their Twenty20 series on Wednesday in Cardiff.

Joss ButlerThe 68 undefeated 68 led to Sophia Gardens when England reached their 130 goal with 17 reserve balls.

Sri Lanka was limited to 129-7 after winning the throw as Adil Rashid and Sam Qur’an took two sacks each. Dasun Shanaka led the visitors by 50.

Jason Roy and Butler then combined to open 80 before Roy was caught by Danushka Gunatilaka for 36 in the 10th.

Butler continued to knock far and reach 50 two overs later, before David Malan was bowled for 7 by Isuru Udana to leave England 112-2.

Butler and Johnny Beirstov, who finished undefeated for 13, then strengthened England to their goal.

The three-game streak continues at Sophia Gardens on Thursday.
