Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has joined the Indian test team here after recovering from Covid-19 and completing the isolation, the Indian cricket board has confirmed. “Hello @ RishabhPant17, it’s great to be back #TeamIndia,” the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) wrote on Twitter.
The youngster received a “spectacular welcome” while tweeting a photo with head coach Ravi Shastri. Pant, who was on a wreath in the photo, thanked Shastri for the reception.
On July 15, BCCI announced that both Pant and training assistant Diana and Garani had tested positive for Covid-19. The council said the young doorman was in isolation on his eighth day during the announcement.
Pant, who now returns negative test results, has been in isolation for two weeks after being positive.
India’s other wikit on the tour, Wriddhiman Saha he is still in isolation, along with bowling coach Bharat Arun and batsman on standby Abhimanyu Ivasvan for his contact with Garani. The trio is expected to be released on July 24.
In the absence of both Pant and Sakha, the Indians stood up KL Rahul as goalie in the ongoing warm-up match against County Select XI.
