BCCI plans to launch its domestic season 2021-22 in September this year with the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament and also released a quarterly window to the Ranji Trophy in December after the tent event had to be canceled last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. .

However, the Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Irani Cup are not part of the preliminary calendar prepared by the cricket operations team. Apart from that, five women’s competitions have also been dropped from the list.

The 2020-21 season was severely disrupted, with only the T20 (Mushtaq Ali) and ODI (Vijay Hazare Trophy) national championships being held following the pandemic. Only the National One-Day Meeting was organized for women.

Against the backdrop of a second wave of COVID-19 cases across India, BCCI still hopes to hold the national season by age groups for men and women after a shortened last season.

With India playing the T20 World Cup in October and mega IPL Auctions next year it is understood that all stakeholders want to start with two white ball tournaments – Mushtaq Ali T20 between the “middle”

Performances in the U-19 One Day Challenger along with the Cooch Behar Trophy and the Vinoo Mankad Trophy will help select India’s Colts for next year’s ICC U-19 World Cup.

The Women’s T20 as well as the ODI Challenger Trophy will not be played alongside versions of these events until age 23. The Challenger T20 trophy for women under 19 will also not be played.
