Cruel got a new trailer, with more than seven weeks left until its release date on May 28th. On Wednesday, Disney unveiled a second trailer for Emma Stone’s story of the origins of the iconic villain of 101 Dalmatians, partly tuned to Doris Day’s song “Maybe, Maybe, Maybe.” In it, fashionista Baroness von Hellmann (Emma Thompson) tells the ambitious designer Estella de Ville (Stone) that she can’t be interested in anyone else, because they are just obstacles in her way. “You have talent. Whether you have a killer instinct is the big question, “added the baroness. But Estella is fired while working by the baroness, and she shows up at a party to stage a scene, setting fire to her dress and participating in some fists – on heels, as she points out. He then introduces himself as Cruella.
The rest of Cruel trailer presents the plot of Disney a film that reveals that he recruits some thieves and fraudsters – including Artie (John McCrea), Horace Badun (Paul Walter Hauser) and Jasper Badun (Joel Fry) – to create additional problems for the baroness, including stealing her precious Dalmatians tweaking with her haute couture dresses. Estella’s friend Anita (Kirby Howell-Baptist) tells her that there is a bit of an extreme side to which she responds with the most accents: “Yes, darling, and what fun is that.” She also hints that the Baroness is not aware of Estella Cruella ‘s alternative ego, given the late exchange they have in Cruel trailer.
In addition to Stone, Thompson, McCrea, Hauser, Fry and Howell-Baptist, Cruel also stars Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as the valet of Baroness Boris, Emily Beecham (Hello, Caesar!) as Catherine, Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag, Stath Lets Flats) as Gerald and Haruka Abe (Kiss Me First) as Liberty. Behind the scenes directed by Craig Gillespie (I Tonya) Cruel written by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara. Andrew Gunn (Strange Friday), Mark Platt (Mary Poppins Returns) and Christine Burr (Christopher Robin) are the producers, and the executive producers are Michelle Wright, Jared Leboff, Glenn Close and Stone.
