Croatian striker Ivan Perisic tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday and will miss the match against Spain in the round of 16 of the European Championship.
Perisic will have to isolate himself for 10 days, according to a statement from the Croatian team. The rest of the team and the coaching staff have a negative result.
“The medical staff isolated Ivan from the other members of the national team,” said the Croatian team, “and immediately and thoroughly informed the competent epidemiological authorities about the situation, providing evidence of compliance with all necessary measures to protect against the spread of coronavirus. “
The quarantine period will also eliminate Perisic if the 2018 World Cup finalists reach the quarterfinals on Friday and the semifinals on July 6th.
Perisic scored in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Scotland, which Billy Gilmore missed after the midfielder tested positive for coronavirus. No other Scottish player has been told to isolate himself.
Croatia has returned to its homeland from Glasgow. The Euro 2020 team, without Perisic, is due to fly from Pula to Copenhagen on Sunday to face Spain the next day.
