Edinson Cavani finally scored his second goal of the Copa America on Tuesday morning and could not have come better as the 1-0 victory over Paraguay allowed his nation to meet early with defending champions and hosts Brazil in knockout stages. Now Chile will face Neymar and Co. in the next stage.
Uruguay will then face Colombia in the quarter-finals on Sunday (July 4th).
Edinson Cavani scored from a penalty in the 21st minute for the only goal in the match at the Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
The victory means that this is Uruguay’s second victory on the trot, after beating Bolivia 2-0 four days ago. Earlier, the team found it difficult to continue in the race with a 1-0 loss against Argentina, followed by 1-1 against Chile in group A.
