Chile’s football team is in deep trouble in the ongoing Copa America after at least six of its current players have been accused of inviting several women to a party against the backdrop of strict COVID-19 rules at their hotel in Cuiaba. According to a report by the Spanish daily Marca, Chilean players have invited several women to join them at the Gran Hotel Odara, where the team stayed during the Copa America.

The incident prompted team technical director Martin Lasarte to call for severe penalties, including sending the guilty players home.

Although the names of the players have not yet been officially revealed, the report states that stars Arturo Vidal and Gary Medel were at the party, including Pablo Galdames, Pablo Aranguiz and Eduardo Vargas.

The incident happened as soon as Medel and Vidal reportedly were fined $ 30,000 each by CONMEBOL for inviting a hairdresser to cut his hair at the hotel.
