Badminton fans can expect the highest quality matches during the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, the World Badminton Federation (BWF) announced on Thursday.
Various training bodies, including the World Badminton Authority, have worked very hard to make the games a success, BWF Secretary-General Thomas Lund told a virtual news conference, Xinhua reported.
He was also optimistic that no major deviations of full exit invitations from top shuttles were expected to appear at the event, despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 situation.
“As I said, the list of qualified players will be of the highest standard, so we have absolutely no worries about the entries that will go into the Olympics. So it will be a fantastic competition with the highest level of players in unusual circumstances, with security, “he said.
Lund added that the organizers have gained valuable experience by successfully hosting several international tournaments in Europe and Asia, and this is applied to ensure the safety of athletes and the success of matches.
“I think we are well prepared, but there is a lot of work. I am sure we are in a good place,” he said.
The Tokyo Olympics have been postponed since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The games are already scheduled from July 23 to August 8
