The India Open Super 500 and Hyderabad Open Super 100 were canceled on Monday by the World Badminton Federation (BWF), which announced a revised international calendar to save the remaining season affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The $ 400,000 Indian Open, which was to be one of the qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics, was scheduled for May 11-16, but was postponed in April due to growing COVID cases in the national capital. The Hyderabad Open was scheduled for August 24-29.

However, the Syed Modi India International Super 300 tournament, which was to take place in Lucknow from October 12 to 17, has remained in place so far, according to the new calendar.

“A number of tournaments previously classified as postponed by Q1 and Q2 or originally scheduled for Q3 and Q4 from 2021 have subsequently been canceled,” a BWF statement said. In other messages,

The world body said Monday that Finland will host the Sudirman Cup finals in September-October, while the season-ending finals of the world tour will be held in Indonesia.

China was scheduled to host both the Sudirman Cup final and the World Cup final, but the BWF decided to move the two events out of the country due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The body at the top also decided to hold the prestigious World Cup, which will be held in Spain, in two weeks.

“The limitations of COVID-19 mean that it is not possible to hold tournaments in China this year. Therefore, alternative host cities have been identified for the finals of the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup 2021 and

HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2021, “said BWF.” Vantaa, Finland is the new host of TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2021 in week 39 (September 26 – October 3, 2021). “The action will then move to

Denmark, which will host the Thomas & Uber Cup finals

2020 in Aarhus (October 9-17), which was postponed last year.

It will be followed by side events from the world tour – DANISA Denmark Open in Odense (October 19-24), YONEX French Open in Paris (October 26-31) and SaarLorLux Open in Saarbrücken, Germany (November 2-7). will create a bio-balloon in Indonesia, similar to Thailand, to host three Asian Leg tournaments in Bali, including the finals of the world tour.

Open Indonesia will be

held from November 16-21 and November 23-28, followed by the finals of the world tour from December 1 to 5. “The final tournament for the calendar year will be

TotalEnergies BWF World Championship in Huelva, Spain in week 50 (12-19 December 2021). “

Speaking about the new calendar, BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund said: “… we were able to work with the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) to present a comprehensive plan for a three-week balloon setup in Bali, similar to what we saw in the Asian foot in Bangkok earlier this year.

“… Unfortunately, we will not be able to host tournaments in China and therefore we will not be able to host the finals of the HSBC BWF World Tour at our spiritual home in Guangzhou.”

“We are very grateful to Badminton Finland for coming to us with a decision to place the finals for the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup 2021 in Vantaa instead of China.

“We also thank the hosts who committed to this new plan and made the necessary changes, including the Spanish badminton federation, which agreed to withdraw the TotalEnergies BWF World Championship by two weeks,” he added.
