The series of a series of Rafael Nadal’s Grand Slam ended at 35, after he was eliminated one against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
Nadal took the first two sets of his game 6-3, 6-2, giving him 14 consecutive in Melbourne Park, on top of the 21 consecutive claims he won while winning the French Open in October.
But Tsitsipas grabbed the third set in a tiebreak with some unusual Nadal mistakes.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion threw two overheads into the tiebreak and also formed a backhand. Nadal pressed another backhand long on the last point of this set.
This leaves Nadal a short of Roger Federer’s professional record of 36 sets in a row in major tournaments.
