Sudarsan Pattnaik unveils sand art for Indian athletes ahead of Tokyo Olympics

Renowned sand artist and Padma award winner Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a work of sand to wish the Indian contingent success at the Tokyo Olympics, which are set to begin on Friday.

Patnaik joined the cast to welcome India as part of the Indian Olympic Army of Fans, an initiative of the MPL Sports Foundation to give the Indian Olympic team its own fan group.

MPL Sports Foundation is the main partner of the team of the Olympic Games in India for Tokyo 2020.

Award-winning artist Patnaik, known for his multi-themed sculptures, unveiled a sand installation on Thursday to inspire everyone to become a fan of Indian athletes in their quest for Olympic glory.

The sand art of Patnaik on Puri Beach includes engravings of various Olympic disciplines, as well as the racing shout of the premiere of # Cheer4India’s Hon’ble Narendra Modi.

More than 31 million fans from the best sports teams and clubs in India such as Kolkata Knight Riders, Goa FC, Gokulam Kerala FC, Ultimate Table Tennis, Real Kashmir FC, Shillong Lajong FC and Cricket Fauj have already joined the Indian Olympic Army.

The Tokyo Olympics run from July 23 to August 8.
